Mike Murphy, Maple Ridge based LifeSport Coaching athlete, participated this Saturday at the Dirty Duo, a scenic trail race through the North Shore mountains of British Columbia. The race includes various distance and discipline options. Participants have the choice to do a 15km, 25km, 50km trail or, a 30km mountain bike race or to do the real Dirty Duo challenge or a 25km trail run and 30km bike.
Mike went for the Dirty Duo challenge. He did not only win the race for the second year in a row, he also set a new course record by over 20min. After the race Mike gave his LifeSport coach Bjoern Ossenbrink the run down for the race: "[...] New course record. 20 minutes faster than last year. I won the solo, and only 1 team beat me, [...], by less than 5 minutes. [...] My nutrition was bang on for the whole day. My transition was a couple minutes faster this year. My ride was where everything came together. I was 17 minutes faster this year, and more importantly, I felt relatively good right out of transition. I obviously wasn't moving at my ride-only pace, but I put my effort right in z3 for the entire bike. [...]" Mike total finish time was 4h19min. It took him 2h08min for each, the 25km trail run and the 30km Mountain Bike section. Excellent job Mike.
