Yes, it is January already and that means the start of my preparation for the Hawaii Ironman! And for the fifth year in a row, I made the trek to Pucon, Chile to race in the ½ Ironman race. I had won it the four previous times, but this time I had the pleasure of some very talented women – Heather Gollnick (3 time Ironman Champion), Susan Williams (bronze medalist at the 2004 Olympics!!!) and Erika Csomor (World Duathlon Champion, IM Austria Champion and a 2:39 marathoner).
Jones and Weckend: National Sprint Triathlon Champions

The 2005 Canadian Sprint Triathlon Championships were held Sunday, July 3rd, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Kyle Jones (Heritage Way) placed first among the Elite Men in 59:38 managing to break the one hour mark. Among the Elite Women, Victoria's Suzanne Weckand managed to make it to the top of the podium in 1:06:47. Jones has been National champion twice for 2005. Look for Jones and Weckend to stand on more podiums in 2005.
