LifeSport at Ironman Canada Coach Dan and Michelle Ball going to Kona
Aug 30, 2010
Congratulations to the 30 LifeSport athletes that competed in Ironman Canada! Leading the way were coach Dan Smith with his impressive 9:50 clocking in the 45-49 Division good for second place, and Michelle Ball who just came off a stress fracture this spring to set a personal best of 10:50 taking 3rd her in division. Both athletes qualified for the Hawaii Ironman World Championships this October. There were many other great performances by LifeSport athletes including personal bests, new single sport time records, and simply finishing their first Ironman. Congrats to everyone who raced, the family and friends who came out to cheer, and LifeSport coaches who were out in full force encouraging the athletes through the day. Here is Coach Dan's race report...
Lance Watson at the Philippines Ironman 70.3 - What a Trip! Magali Tisseyre Takes the Win!
Aug 24, 2010
Once again LifeSport athlete Fred Uytengsu was gracious enough to invite myself and LifeSport to be a part of the Philippines Ironman 70.3 festivities. Uytengsu is President and CEO of Alaska Milk, as well as Sunrise Events. Sunrise directs many race events, such as IronKids and the 70.3. Fred is also an avid triathlete and ex-national team swimmer who has spearheaded the Polo Triathlon Club in Manila.
Last weekend was the 4th stop of the Subaru Western Triathlon Series and it took place in the scenic town of Sooke on the far western edge of Vancouver Island. Looking west the racers get a fantastic view of the Olympic Mountain Range, still capped with snow in August. While the course doesn't lend itself to PBs – the Otter Point Monster is pretty daunting, as is the run which is all down hill one way and uphill the other for two loops it is well respected by the athletes.
Congratulations to Bermuda mother and businesswoman Karen Smith for her outstanding result at Ironman Lake Placid. Smith, who races in the 40-44 category finished in a time of 10:21, placing as the 3rd overall amateur and an amazing 11th place overall including the pros! Smith, coached by LifeSport coach Paul Regensburg, set a personal best by 17 minutes and won her division by an unprecedented 35 minutes! Congratulations to Karen who will now set her sights on the Hawaiian Ironman.

Canadian Magali Tisseyre has had a very busy racing season so far and
took wins at Buffalo Springs Lake 70.3 and Moooseman 70.3. The focus now
is on World Championships in Clearwater, Florida, but she'll first
enjoy a bit of mellow time.
Former national triathlon team member Rachel McBride won the Yaletown Grand Prix. The Yaletown GP is of the most prestigious cycling criteriums in Canada. Every year the race attracts the best cycling racers from North America to come to Vancouver, BC.
A great group of athletes joined LifeSport coaches Dan Smith & Mark Shorter at the third annual LifeSport Ironman Louisville, Kentucky Preparation Camp. Louisville is a fairly big city and the university there is building a brand new Basketball Arena for the Louisville Cardinals and is located immediately adjacent to Galt House Hotel (the race headquarters hotel that we hosted the camp from). The transition point for the race was transformed in to an outdoor concert and stage area, temporarily called Forecastle.

In 2008 Magali Tisseyre was a student working on a master’s degree in
biomechanics and an aspiring triathlete. In 2009, she made the enormous
leap from relative unknown to top-tier professional and her impressive
race results—along with her bubbly personality—have quickly earned her a
legion of fans. She just won Ironman 70.3 Buffalo Springs and is
sticking to the 70.3 distance this year with an eye towards her first
Ironman in 2011.
LifeSport Athlete Hillerie Denning's Vancouver Race Report
Jul 13, 2010
The location of this race is amazing and LifeSport as usual held a well organized and well marshaled event. I was scared of the ocean swim, being an inexperienced swimmer, but I conquered my fear. I did learn however that I need a lot more ocean swim practice and to wear ear plugs next time so I won't get seasick.
